The Emporia Spartans and the Olathe North Eagles squared off in the second game of the 48th annual Ralph Miller classic. Emporia took the 50-35 win behind Skyler Douglas’s 22 points. Olathe North was lead by Koi Jackson  and Syl Union each with nine points.

“I thought we did a decent job mixing up defenses. I thought we did a good job early on Snyder, trying to stay loose, you know. He’s really good at catching, facing, and driving the basketball. We did a good job trying to get off him and trying to make him score over our length, but then we got a little bit to tight,” Olathe North’s head coach Adam Olerich said, “They were a lot better than us and a lot more sound than us. They really dominated the 50-50 loose ball stat, got to almost every one of those. They probably just outworked us which is the most frustrating thing and I thought that lead to second and third opportunities that they took advantage of.”

The game was pretty close until halftime with Emporia leading 30-23. Then in the second half the Spartans took off, going on a big run that lead to the 15-point victory.

“We talked about that they’re going to get after us but we need to go be the aggressors and I though Charles [Snyder]’s dunk kind of exemplified that down the stretch,” Emporia head coach Beau Welch said.

Snyder finished with 21 points of his own.

Emporia will be playing the winner of the Chanute-Andover Central game tomorrow at 8pm. At 4:45 tomorrow you can catch Olathe North against the loser of the Chanute-Andover Central contest.
